The Garcia Lab studies RNA chemical modifications, particularly those present on transfer RNA (tRNA), as well as the functions of the RNA-modifying enzymes that catalyze them. A recent focus has been advancement of direct RNA-sequencing technology, and other sequencing methods, to profile a variety of RNA modifications in vivo. We work primarily in the model eukaryote S. cerevisiae (budding yeast).
See PAPERS for our most recent pre-printed/published work. We are also a proud participant of the Oregon RNA Club. 🦆
